The Northern Lights

Or The Golden Compass as they insist on calling it. Anyway they have a 'what is your daemon' feature. Once you've answered the questions it selects your daemon, and now everyone else has 12 days to comment on whether it accurately reflects my personality before it settles in the way that daemons do.

Strangely the summary doesn't really seem to correspond to how I thought I'd answered the questions. But there you go.

We've been watching Saxondale recently - Steve Coogan's latest effort. Comedy aside - which has its definite moments - you have to respect its choice of music. Main theme is Focus's House Of The King (previously mentioned on this blog), end title theme is Hocus Pocus, and you get the odd bits of flutey Jethro Tull in between. I'm only surprised that there's been no Horslips in there as well.

Serenity

Well it goes without saying really that it's a great movie and everyone should go to see it immediately! I'd go every day if I had the time to make sure it got a sequel.

The day after we saw it I got the Serenity: The Official Visual Companion for a late birthday present. This is well worth picking up as it has a quite lengthy interview with Joss about the movie, the shooting script - so a few deleted scenes - and a selection of concept drawings, storyboards, photos etc.

I rewatched the pilot of Firefly (also called Serenity of course) afterwards, there's only a couple of discrepancies I picked up on - although Joe reckons the layout of the ship is slightly different. Small spoilers follow...

V for Vendetta

The trailer for V for Vendetta is kind of interesting. Unfortunately like most such trailers these days it's all fast cuts and explosions so it's hard to get a real sense of what it's like. Note the actual movie file is here for those of us who like to watch movies full screen - something the brain dead quicktime plugin doesn't seem to allow.
