Atlanta - Day 4

Well today we finally started looking at real integration issues. It doesn't do what it's meant to, it crashes and it's far too slow. So there's a bit of work to do. The delay means that I've been asked to stay a few more days though and work over the weekend. I've agreed, 'cos clearly I'm needed. Also I've been told not to bother coming back into work before Christmas when I get back.

Which is nice.

This evening I visited the house of one of the guys running the project. It's a mansion! We spent the time in the basement, but I got a peak at some of the other rooms and it just looks like a movie home.

The attraction of the basement was the collection of restored pinball machines. He has 8 or 9 of them. Lovely things but I never really understood pinball, there's too much to learn to work out how to actually get a high score rather than just stop the ball going down the hole. However he also has a few arcade video games including my old nemesis, Galaga and also an old favourite Tempest. I had a respectable game of Galaga. Made it to level 26 but only two hundred thousand points or so. The high score was half a million though by one of the other guests. Obviously he gets more time to practice.
