And now the conclusion.
So I'm now sitting in CKS International airport at the gate. We should have been boarding 10 minutes ago, however the flight has been delayed for 45 minutes - I think due to bad weather at Hong Kong going by the announcements at check-in about some earlier flights. Now I only had 75 minutes to make my transfer at Hong Kong in the first place so I'm a little bit worried as to whether I'm going to get back on-time.
No I haven't forgotten day3, but it was too late to write last night. And actually it's too late to write tonight. So this is just a quick placeholder note. Tonight two of the guys I've been working with took me out for a meal at the Tea Restaurant and then for a walk through a night market where I got to eat the infamous Stinky Tofu and have a Frogs Eggs drink. Only one of those food descriptions is strictly accurate luckily. More tomorrow.
Currently I'm sitting in my hotel room with the occasional flash of lightning and rumble of thunder outside and the constant downpour of the rain. Get to the right part of town and it's probably quite Blade Runner-esque.
So first day properly in Taipei. The hotel I'm in is actually "serviced apartments". The difference appears to be that there is a kitchen in my room - annoyingly the very quiet air conditioning is drowned out by the very noisy fridge - and there is no hotel restaurant but vouchers for breakfast to be used at the Royal Host (a bit reminiscent of the Little Chef attached to Travelodges - if Little Chef served omelette with miso sauce) or McDonalds.
So only a few weeks after I got back from a business trip to San Jose (organised like most of them with 1 days notice) I'm off again to Taipei (in Taiwan for the geographically challenged).
