May 2005 Archives

This time the number of Who viewers is around the same but the viewing share has gone up significantly. However the Celebrity Wrestling viewing figures have dropped again - and its share is the same as before. I guess this results from the fact that the two programmes only partially overlap - they don't completely coincide. As I understand it the figures are calculated for each 15 minute block - and then averaged over the duration of each programme. So it looks like the total viewing audience post-7pm has dropped more since last week than the pre-7pm audience.

Who ratings slip a little after the Dalek episode to just above where they were previously. Wrestling on the other hand just continues shedding viewers.

I've just stumbled across a new source of legal MP3 downloads, http://www.playlouder.com/. It's an interesting looking place worthy of a browse. It only sells MP3's and they are decent quality (192-256kbps VBR) - much the same as eMusic. It's all indie labels as you'd expect but it seems to have the more current/popular bands that eMusic doesn't and it seems to have a better range of those albums, plus more singles.

So very wrong

So the long awaited return of the Daleks (well Dalek anyway) arrives. The promotions for this episode were up a notch on previous weeks with a special Radio Times cover again so better results were expected but in the end only delivered another half a million (possibly the same half a million that deserted Celebrity Wrestling). The share is the best since Rose though - contrast with Ep 3 (8.3/36%) showing that the the good weather is hitting total viewing figures.

With video figures in then Who beats Casualty again (Yay!). Meanwhile Celebrity Wrestling fails to make the top 30.
